This review could literally end there because ‘Eh‘ is the word to sum everything up. Let me preface this by saying that I really wanted – and still do – to LOVE the Drucilla sunglasses by Killstar. But instead, I am feeling meh.
At first sight, these glam 50’s inspired shades look absolutely gothtastic : sturdy metal frame, cute pentagrams on the side and vampy shape. So at £14.99, they flew into my basket, aaaaand into my poor postie’s weekly Thunderella batch.
Oh look! She is here …
… and she is not happy! Killstar you got some ‘splaining to do…
Let us start with a couple of the website’s pics. On the website you almost cannot see the nose thingies (lord I don’t know what these things are called!, nose holders??, nose strap-ons??), and frankly they almost seem invisible.
Second point : on the website, a photo from a shady angle is posted – yes SHADY ( admire my puns please). Because my friends, this photo has been taken from above, meaning that you don’t get to see how the nose strap-ons actually show.
Well I’ll show you how : low and in a quite obnoxious manner. Honestly, I thought I got sent a dodgy pair when I tried them on because of how they sat. It really felt like the nose bras were glued on too low on the sunglasses frame. This means the glasses sit on the butt of your nose.
And to top it off : when you take them off, you get a free mark on the side of your nose. No, no, no, no, no, no , no, no, no, no … yes there is a NOSE limit!
In summary, I still think they look great but not for long periods of time. Them sitting so low on the nose and feeling awkward means that (at least for me), i kept wanting to readjust them, because they would slip and also feel odd where they were at.
I did post an awful video review(i was bored in my backyard) so you can actually see what I mean! I will re-record this video properly when I get a minute but in the meantime it is up!
